Tiers are representative published bands per way of buying (verified 2026-07-12), not any one exchange's live rate — real fees vary by exchange, volume tier, region and promotions. Enter your exchange's actual fee above to place it in the table. Round-trip = fee on the buy plus the sell.

Quick answer

Trading fees are charged on both the buy and the sell, so the real cost is the round trip. A 1.5% instant-buy fee needs about a +3.07% price move just to break even; a 0.1% spot limit order needs almost nothing. This tool compares each buying method side by side for your trade size.

How this is calculated

Every row applies its fee to your trade size twice — once on the buy, once on the sell — because that's how a real round trip works. break-even move = 1 ÷ ((1 − fee) × (1 − fee)) − 1: at 0.1% per side you need the price to rise +0.20% to get back to flat, at 1.5% you need +3.07%, and at 4% you need +8.51%. The "buys coins" column is what actually becomes crypto after the entry fee.

The tiers are representative bands for each way of buying, not a live rate for any single exchange — those move weekly and by volume, region and promotion. Type your exchange's real per-side fee into the optional field to drop it into the table and see exactly where it lands. For the drag across a whole recurring plan, the DCA calculator's fee input runs it over real price history.

Frequently asked questions

How much are crypto trading fees?
It depends far more on how you buy than on which exchange: a spot limit order on a pro interface runs about 0.1–0.25% per side, the one-tap instant-buy button around 1.5%, and a debit/credit card purchase 3–4%. Same coin, same custody — up to 40× the cost. Exact rates vary by exchange, your 30-day volume, region and promotions.
Why do fees matter more than they look?
Because they're charged on both the buy and the sell, and because the dollars they take never grow. A 4% card buyer starts 8.5% underwater — the price has to rise that much before breaking even. The calculator shows the round-trip cost and the break-even move for each way of buying.
Are these the exact fees my exchange charges?
No — the built-in rows are representative published bands for each way of buying, not a live feed of any one exchange's rate (those change weekly and by volume tier). Type your exchange's actual maker/taker fee into the 'your exchange' field to place it directly in the comparison.
What is a maker vs. taker fee?
A maker order adds liquidity to the order book (a limit order that waits) and is charged the lower fee; a taker order removes liquidity (a market order that fills immediately) and pays more. Choosing limit orders on the pro interface is usually the single biggest fee saving available to a retail trader.
